VitaPortal, a major Russian provider of online and mobile health solutions, and a company launched by Fastlane Ventures, Russia's leading investor and operational partner in online businesses, has closed a $2M Series A fundraising round led by Prostor Capital, one of the most dynamic Russian investment funds in which it has been joined by notable angel investor Esther Dyson.

VitaPortal's mission is to inspire people to live a healthier lifestyle. To do so, VitaPortal provides online and mobile tools for healthy living, as well as content for Russian-speaking physicians. All published materials and tools undergo a rigorous medical review process conducted by certified physicians. VitaPortal now offers more than 30 health measurement and personalization tools, which have been used by more than 1 million people during the past six months alone.

The funding will help VitaPortal to continue to develop user-profile-based personalization technology, including online health management tools and a physician and hospital ranking system, to help people make informed choices about their own healthcare.

Azamat Ulbashev, CEO and co-founder of VitaPortal, comments, "Demand for quality online healthcare services in the Russian Internet is incredible, and we are working hard to provide people with health management tools, based on user-generated data. We believe that personalization gives people a much better opportunity to take care of their health. The initial trust in our model from our operational partner and founder investor Fastlane Ventures and the investment by Prostor Capital our lead investor in this round is very important to us, because we share a vision for the potential of technological healthcare solutions. This synergy will positively impact the speed and range of our development."

Alexey Solovyov, Managing Director, Prostor Capital, said, "We have been following the development of VitaPortal since the start of operations a year ago and think that they have a great healthcare online service offering and technologies, appealing to both customers and physicians. We see a huge potential in Russia's online medical segment and believe that VitaPortal platform is specifically suited to meet the increasing needs and expectations of people looking for qualified information in the medical field. After extensive analysis of the range of Internet services in this area, we believe that VitaPortal is the clear market leader in this fast growing industry."

Esther Dyson said, "There's so much that people can do themselves to stay or get healthy… but they don't know. With VitaPortal, we hope to give them the knowledge and the motivation to live healthier lives, both with content and with apps that help them get meaning from data about their own health and activities."
