2018-01-05
AUSTIN, TX, Leader in proactive cyber defense, today announced $1.4 million in seed funding led by Moonshots Capital.
Threatcare, the leader in proactive cyber defense, today announced $1.4 million in seed funding led by Moonshots Capital, a seed-stage venture capital firm. The new funding will be used for recruiting, product development and onboarding new customers. As part of the funding, Craig Cummings, Co-founder and General Partner at Moonshots Capital, will join the Board of Directors. Other investors in the round include Flyover Capital and Firebrand Ventures.
Threatcare simplifies product evaluations, security controls monitoring, and training for security staff. Threatcare's flagship product, Violet, is the world's first virtual cybersecurity professional. The Violet platform helps security teams, incident responders, and network forensic practitioners to reduce their attack surface by continuously monitoring their cybersecurity posture. Violet combines traditional Red Team and Blue Team activities, forming a "Purple Team," which is where Violet's name is derived.
"Cyber threats are evolving faster than ever before. In order to protect their data and networks, companies today must think like the attacker and anticipate threats before they happen," said Marcus Carey, Founder and CEO of Threatcare. "Moonshots Capital has provided us with the capital to scale our platform and offer our solutions to more companies. We're proud to be supported by veteran-led and -focused investors, especially ones who have such a strong track record of success."
Moonshots Capital is a seed-stage venture capital firm that invests in extraordinary leadership. The managing partners have had several successful exits, including Harvest.ai, a cyber security firm acquired by Amazon in 2016, and Bitium, a Saas-based software operating system recently acquired by Google.
"We're proud to invest in Threatcare, Marcus Carey and his team. They've demonstrated extraordinary leadership and have built a compelling solution that's making cyber-defense proactive," said Craig Cummings, General Partner, Moonshots Capital. "Threatcare provides an attacker's perspective of an organization, helping them stay on-guard and anticipate threats from all angles."
Violet is the only cloud-based breach and attack simulation software on the market. No hardware is needed to run a malicious intrusion simulator. The platform also leverages advanced machine learning and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) - which has customers referring to it as the "Alexa for Security."
"As a company we are passionate about helping organizations secure more faster-by any means necessary. As a team we are building a company that attracts and maintains top talent. This new funding allows us to expand our incredible team to continue building out our vision," Marcus Carey, Founder and CEO of Threatcare.
Threatcare was founded in 2014 and is based in Austin, Texas.
