2014-09-12
WASHINGTON, DC, talklocal, a local services marketplace raised $2.6M in a round led by Privateer Capital, Fortify VC, Crystal Tech Fund, and Launch Angels' Where Fund.
talklocal, a local services marketplace founded by Gurpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh, and Amandeep Bakshi, formerly Seva Call, today announced its new name and significant milestones in traction and funding.
The DC-based startup, newly rebranded as talklocal, is a local search site that seamlessly connects online searching consumers with local businesses in real-time via phone.
'Hitting one million calls is a testament to our strong performance to date, but we're setting the stage for an even steeper rate of growth going forward,' founder Manpreet Singh explained.
Launching in late 2012, talklocal has sent one million phone calls to local businesses, connecting consumers and businesses in 46 categories including auto-repair, HVAC, plumbing, and dentistry. With offices in DC and San Francisco, the startup has launched in over 50 major cities and served 49 states.
talklocal raised $2.6M in a round led by Privateer Capital, Fortify VC, Crystal Tech Fund, and Launch Angels' Where Fund, in support of its upcoming national launch and the roll-out of its mobile apps.
Rather than spend hours finding the right pro, consumers can visit http://www.talklocal.com, enter their needs, and hear from up to 3 matching professionals by phone in about 90 seconds. talklocal matches consumers to businesses based on location, schedule, online ratings and reviews, social reputation and interaction, call analytics, and other forms of feedback.
talklocal previously raised $1.3m in venture funding. This latest round includes original and new investors. One new investor, Brett Hurt (Founder of Bazaarvoice and Coremetrics), describes talklocal as 'the missing piece in the local search puzzle.'
