StreetLight Data Pulls In $7.5M

2016-03-08
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, StreetLight Data today announced that it has secured Series B financing.
StreetLight Data leverages the massive amount of geospatial data being produced by mobile devices to transform the way decisions about transportation are made - creating meaningful insights regarding mobility patterns and transportation behaviors that improve Smart Cities, transportation engineering, real estate, and economic development.

StreetLight's groundbreaking approach to contextualizing and structuring different types of spatial data and its intuitive SaaS platform allows clients to get powerful insights quickly, while protecting the privacy of individuals. The Series B will allow StreetLight to accelerate sales and expand development of its popular StreetLight InSight platform, already in use by over 100 clients in North America.

StreetLight Data's new round of funding is co-led by Osage University Partners and ENGIE New Ventures. In addition, existing investors Vision Ridge Capital Partners and Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments participated in the round.

Marc Singer, Managing Partner at Osage University Partners, said, 'StreetLight has demonstrated both the ability to create value today from Big Data, as well as to envision paradigm shifts in core practices from transportation to real estate, financial services and beyond in the future.'

'There is a lot of buzz about Smart Cities without specifics on the tangible solutions to enable them. ENGIE invested in StreetLight Data because their mobility analytics illustrate the flow of a city's people, goods and services and are already a key enabler to the actual creation of smart, efficient and sustainable cities' highlighted GĂ©rard Mestrallet, the CEO of ENGIE. 'StreetLight Data will provide insight to help ENGIE and its customers make better mobility decisions' he added.

'In the past year, we've seen enormous uptake of StreetLight InSight by the leading firms working with states, regions, and cities to transform the process of planning infrastructure, and to make the concept of Smart Cities a reality. The potential savings generated by these entities using StreetLight InSight - in terms of time, money, greenhouse gas and criteria air emissions - are substantial. Our new investment will allow to take our ideas and mission so much further, including expanding to new verticals,' said Laura Schewel, CEO and co-founder of StreetLight.
