2012-07-16
NEW YORK, NY, Company behind a unique technology that delivers content to mobile devices through sound waves, has closed a $4.25 million Series A financing round led by Raptor Ventures.
Sonic Notify (http://www.sonicnotify.com), the company behind a unique technology that delivers content to mobile devices through sound waves, has closed its Series A financing round. The $4.25 million round was led by Raptor Ventures, the venture arm of Raptor Group. A-Grade Investments, Advancit Capital, AngelVision Investors, DEV (Digital Entertainment Ventures), Eniac Ventures, and The Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency also participated in the round, among others.

Sonic Notify's patent pending technology enables an imperceptible sound to be heard from any microphone. The sound can be transmitted through any device with a speaker, such as a television, radio, or stadium, and across any broadcast medium including cable, satellite, and internet streaming. When heard by a mobile device pre-loaded with a third-party app, the sound triggers the delivery of exclusive content that invites user interaction.

"Sports teams, entertainers, marketers, and many others are seeking innovative solutions to engage audiences and Sonic Notify has moved to the front of the line," said Harry DeMott, Managing Director at Raptor Ventures.

Sonic Notify provides a content programming interface and SDKs (Software Development Kits) to integrate its technology into both iOS and Android apps. The company does not offer a consumer-facing app.

"Sonic Notify has developed a frictionless method for content creators and marketers to reach consumers. Unlike LBS (Location Based Services) marketing or profiling, our platform is used to deliver presence-based engagement - the holy grail for any marketer," said Jonathan Glanz, CEO of Sonic Notify.

Interscope Records, part of Universal Music Group, the world's largest music company, launched their first ever live concert experience using Sonic Notify with pop-R&B group sensation Mindless Behavior on Saturday, July 14th at The Beacon Theatre in New York City. Fans with the Mindless Behavior mobile app received exclusive content from the group and special merchandise offers. The app was developed using Mobile Roadie, a self-service mobile app platform which powers over 3,000 apps and reaches over 20 million people.

"Connecting digital engagement to real time attendance is a new way to expand our audience and our digital footprint," said Brooke Michael, Head of Digital at Interscope Records.
