2014-09-20
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Leading provider of mobile and online enrollment and school choice systems for K-12 public, charter and private schools, announced that it has raised $2.2 million in Seed financing.
SchoolMint, the leading provider of mobile and online enrollment and school choice systems for K-12 public, charter and private schools, announced that it has raised $2.2 million in Seed financing. This funding was led by New School Ventures Fund, Runa Capital and Crosslink Capital with additional participation from leading education-focused backers, including Kapor Capital, Imagine K12, Romulus Capital, Fresco Capital and EdMentor VC as well as other prominent angel investors like Jared Kopf. Since launching in 2013, SchoolMint is currently used by hundreds of Public and Charter Schools in more than 21 cities and 10 states, enrolling hundreds of thousands of K-12 students. The funding will be used to further expand the SchoolMint team, the product offerings and to increase the SchoolMint footprint to schools across the country.
SchoolMint founders Jinal Jhaveri and Forum Desai are transforming the traditional K-12 school admissions process by providing schools and parents an easy-to-use, efficient and manageable online enrollment and notification system. Schools currently spend massive amounts of time, money and valuable resources year-round to manage their admissions processes, provide school choice across districts and cities, predict their enrollment numbers and communicate with parents. Bringing this antiquated system into the digital age, SchoolMint automates the entire process and provides predictive analytics, helping schools achieve their enrollment goals and saving a lot of time and money for schools and parents.
'As founders of mobile and web engineering firm Log(n), we had already been hired previously by charter schools like Rocketship Schools to build custom online enrollment systems,' said Jinal Jhaveri, co-founder SchoolMint. 'Once we went through the never-ending paper trail to enroll our own daughter in kindergarten, we realized all K-12 schools are in dire need of an automated system to handle their admission process. Schools are resource-strapped and administrators are clamoring for a technology tool that they can customize and implement seamlessly. Our platform enables schools to spend their time and financial resources on what really matters - educating children.'
In just a few hours, schools can be up and running on the SchoolMint platform, which can help manage applications, school choice, registration forms, waitlists, run lotteries, communicate deadlines and send notifications. SchoolMint integrates with existing student information systems like PowerSchool and Infinite campus and allows schools to create customizable forms and applications with the information that matters most to their district, and then analyze metrics to generate comprehensive data reports to meet their enrollment goals. SchoolMint is optimized for Web, and has native applications for Android and iOS, allowing parents to create a single account from which they can manage applications and enrollment for multiple children to multiple schools, from their smartphone, tablet or computer.
'Resources are tight for K-12 schools, and the rapid adoption of the SchoolMint platform is a testament to these proven innovators solving a real pain point for schools,' said Eric Chin, Partner at Crosslink Capital. 'We are excited to support SchoolMint and look forward to watching their success as they expand nationwide.'
