SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Rocket Ninja, the pioneer in social 3D entertainment for the web, has closed $7.5 million in Series B funding to create dynamic, emotionally engaging 3D applications for mass-market audiences. The company's instant-play 3D offering is accessible across devices and applications and does not require downloads or plug-ins. Rocket Ninja's financing round was led by European private investor Marcel Boekhoorn.
"3D revolutionized the gaming industry, and it will forever change the social web by delivering a new dimension in self expression and interactivity," said Oded Pelled, CEO of Rocket Ninja. "There's a need for a company that has the technology, the killer apps and the savvy to showcase compelling 3D in entertainment across the social web. The team at Rocket Ninja has cracked the code for making 3D applications accessible, easy to use and fun."
Rocket Ninja's additional round of investment will allow the company to expand its talented team and resources to define the future of social 3D on the web, through entertainment applications as well as its patent-pending, 3D content pipeline engine Shr3D. Shr3D delivers streamed, high-poly, instant-play 3D on a variety of platforms. Rocket Ninja's technology lowers the barrier to entry, running flawlessly even on low-spec, non-hardware-accelerated systems with limited bandwidth. Earlier this year, Rocket Ninja proved their technology and power of social 3D entertainment with its first game, Wrestler Unstoppable on Facebook.
