2012-07-17
NEW YORK, NY, Predictive game studio, has secured $3.1 million in Series A funding led by social media entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, RSE Ventures' CEO Matt Higgins, and other angel investors.
PrePlay (http://preplaysports.com/), a New York-based predictive game studio, has secured $3.1 million in Series A funding led by social media entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, RSE Ventures' CEO Matt Higgins, and other angel investors. The investment funds will be used to expand staff and develop PrePlay's suite of games, including baseball and other entertainment- related content.

This deal followed the launch of NHL PrePlay, the company's predictive game for hockey, which was licensed by the NHL and included features and media from title sponsor Molson Canadian.

To date, PrePlay has developed state-of-the-art second screen social games on iOS. While watching sports on TV, users play by predicting the outcomes of events just seconds before they occur. Users compete with friends and fellow fans for points, which translate into bragging rights and prizes.

"PrePlay just makes sense. They've built a world class iOS team and the stuff they're doing to tie the mobile and social experiences with sports is fantastic," said Gary Vaynerchuk of VaynerMedia. "The company is mature beyond its years in monetizing the experience as well. You're going to see big things from this company."

"Our company builds beautiful, intuitive, and challenging games based on the most interesting question in the world - what's going to happen next," said Andrew Daines, Founder and CEO of PrePlay. "This funding will allow us to continue to add to our rock star team and release titles for a greater variety of sports, media and entertainment content in the not-so-distant future."
