Plum District, the leading local commerce platform for moms, by moms, announced today that it has raised $20 million in Series C financing led by General Catalyst Partners. Additional participants include new investors Comcast Ventures and Duke University along with participation from existing investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Additionally, Raul Vazquez, former president and CEO of Walmart.com was named to the board of directors.

The $20 million round, which brings the total funding amount to $30 million, will be used to invest in company growth through geographic expansion, enhanced customer experience as well as continued investment in technology.

"This new round of funding will enable us to continue to deliver on the promise of building lasting relationships between moms and local merchants," said Megan Gardner, CEO, Plum District.

"Additionally, we are thrilled to add a highly sought after new board member, Raul Vazquez. Raul has extensive leadership experience and in-the-trenches knowledge about e-commerce and retail," said Gardner.

Amy Banse, Managing Director & Head of Funds, Comcast Ventures, also joins the Plum District advisory board.

In addition, Neil Sequeira, a partner at General Catalyst who has served as a board observer since the previous round of financing, will join the board of directors.

Plum District is currently in 27 markets and employs over 300 mom consultants.
