REDWOOD CITY, CA, Leading platform for players to record, replay, and relive their games has become an independent startup company and raised $15 million in Series A funding.
Plays.tv, the leading platform for players to record, replay, and relive their games has become an independent startup company and raised $15 million in Series A funding. The financing was led by Shasta Ventures and includes an investment fund associated with the owners and executives of the San Francisco 49ers, basketball star Jeremy Lin, Accel Partners, Tenaya Capital, DAG Ventures and Founders Fund. The company will use the investment to grow the platform and roll out new features to better serve the millions of gamers already using Plays.tv, under the leadership of founder and CEO, Dennis Fong.

'Plays.tv grew very quickly since its launch and our community really embraced the platform not just for the social sharing but for replaying and improving as players,' said Fong. 'With Shasta and our other investors, we are in a great position to make Plays.tv the most personal and relevant source of gameplay content, and the de facto platform to replay and share videos to get better at your game.'

'We are excited to come on board to support Plays.tv, under the leadership of Dennis Fong,' said Jason Pressman, Managing Director at Shasta Ventures. 'Dennis's background as the original pro-gamer and a successful entrepreneur is the perfect combination to take the already popular Plays.tv and grow it into a successful business.'

Plays.tv features the ability to:

Record - Lightweight, easy-to-use video recorder that automatically tags key in-game events like kills, deaths, assists, and more as you play
Replay - Built-in player enables users to instantly replay their games and jump quickly to tagged events to analyze and improve their play
Relive - One click sharing to let others relive top moments by sharing highlights to Plays.tv as well as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and more
'Similar to watching game tape after NBA games, I love how Plays.tv allows gamers to analyze their own replays,' said Jeremy Lin. 'This enables players to identify what's working and what can be improved. I'm excited to see the pros continue to transform their game with tools like Plays.tv.'

'Plays.tv is as essential to gamers as reviewing tape is to NFL coaches,' said Brano Perkovich, Chief Investment Officer, San Francisco 49ers. 'We believe Plays.tv can become a tool that PC gamers can't live without.'

'Plays.tv is our most important training tool,' said Andy Dinh, general manager and owner for Team SoloMid (TSM). 'Our players use Plays.tv after every match to replay and analyze their mistakes. It's super easy to use, and anyone who likes to play games can get better like a pro.'

Plays.tv users can look forward to improved tools to capture, edit and share video game clips with friends and deep integrations with more of the top PC game titles. Plays.tv will also continue to improve the personalization of users' feeds to offer the most relevant gaming content based on many factors, including a player's gaming history, champion pool, favorite roles, favorite maps, and skill level.
