An Indian company offering a service that blocks spam from mobile phones has received seed funding to increase its user base.

Phone Warrior, a New Delhi-based company offering an Android and BlackBerry app that identifies and blocks spam phone calls and messages, received $550,000 in seed funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners, according to published reports. The funding will be used to increase the app's user base from one million users to ten, as the company finalizes plans to launch an iPhone version of its product early next year.

Phone Warrior is a comprehensive application which takes care of all your mobile spam (calls and SMS messages), and at the same time empowers users with caller information through its rich Global Phone directory. Phone Warrior works on the principles of machine learning and crowd sourcing and provides a complete spam guard on your mobile. Through its 100 million-plus strong global phone directory it promises details on caller name, location and any associated spammer information every time you receive / make a call to an unknown number. The app is currently available for Android and Blackberry.
