LEXINGTON, MA, Cloud storage and sharing startup has secured $2.5 million in funding.
OwnCloud Inc., a cloud storage and sharing startup with an office in Germany, has secured $2.5 million in funding, according to MHT.

A filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission did not name any of the company's 15 investors, but General Catalyst Partners lists ownCloud as one of its portfolio companies.

ownCloud, the company behind the ownCloud project - the most popular open source project for data and file sync, share and view - provides businesses a secure, end-user-friendly way to access and share files that seamlessly integrates with the tools IT already has to secure, track and report data and data usage. ownCloud puts control back in IT's hands, providing the flexibility to choose where data gets stored as well as how data is accessed and shared - and by whom. ownCloud also offers service providers, hosters and telcos the ability to deliver subscribers extensible and customizable white-labeled file sync and share solutions.
