Omnidrone Bags $2M

2014-03-06
BARCELONA, SPAIN, Omnidrone announces its first institutional round of $2 million dollars from mobile and game focused VC.
Omnidrone announces its first institutional round of $2 million dollars from mobile and game focused VCs; Nokia Growth Partners (NGP), London Venture Partners (LVP) and Kibo Ventures. The round was completed in February 2014 and will enable Omnidrone to grow its team and prepare for the launch of its first title.

'We are excited to have such a great mix of investors onboard in our pursuit to build a major gaming company,' said Omnidrone CEO Gerard Fernandez. 'NGP and London Venture Partners can bring much value through their deep mobile and game expertise as well as investment experience from having invested in other leading gaming companies previously. Also NGP's global presence and Kibo Ventures' footprint in the Spanish market are important for us to grow our company to the next level.'

'Gerard and his team built their first mobile games already in the early 2000s and pioneered free-to-play games on Facebook. They have all the skills needed to build a portfolio of top-tier mobile games,' said Walter Masalin of NGP. 'Games dominate the time spent on mobile and we believe the strong industry momentum will continue.'

'Good mobile games come from strong design and hard work, but great ones require more. The Omnidrone guys live and breathe mobile - it's their heart and soul, and this is where truly great mobile games start. LVP is incredibly excited to be joining them on this journey,' said David Lau-Kee, Partner at London Venture Partners. Kibo Ventures Partner Javier Torremocha adds that 'Many successful games have been produced in and around Barcelona and Omnidrone's team is the very elite of Barcelona's game scene.'

Omnidrone is a mobile gaming company founded in August 2013 by a team of industry champions who have developed hundreds of successful titles for other companies previously, including Millionaire City and Galaxy Life. Omnidrone's first game is a free-to-play mid-core social game optimized for tablets and mobile and it is set to be released during spring 2014. Omnidrone plans to grow the current team and hire additional international talent during 2014.
