Livrada Secures Seed Funding

2013-02-12
PASADENA, CA, e-book marketing and gifting startup announced today that it has raised a round of seed funding from ICG Ventures.
Livrada, Inc., an e-book marketing and gifting startup announced today that it has raised a round of seed funding from ICG Ventures Inc., an Ingram Content Group company, along with Angel investors Thomas Lehrman (founder of the Gerson Lehrman Group), William Hsu, and Shawn Yeh. The company also launched Livrada for Authors, allowing any writer to create custom e-book cards to promote, market and sell their digital works in the real world. Corporations, conference planners, and organizations can also use this solution for their bulk distribution needs. Livrada is providing a simple solution to the problem of how to physically promote, browse, discover and gift e-books.

Livrada's first product, title specific e-book gift cards, launched last year at Target and other stores nationwide. The product excited both publishers and retailers by introducing a way for customers to browse and discover e-books in mainstream brick and mortar stores for the first time.

"We are excited that this round of funding will allow us to continue to develop our product as a service directly for authors, as well as expand into more retailers," said Leonard Chen, CEO/co-founder Livrada. "More importantly, the investment by Ingram and these great entrepreneurs shows that there is a significant opportunity in the shift towards e-book publishing and the resultant gap in the way that e-books are currently marketed and shared. We are excited to be among those leading the way."

Livrada for Authors

Livrada e-Book Cards for Authors will empower authors to more effectively market and promote their e-books. Livrada's newly launched service allows any author (independent or published) to create custom e-book cards to promote, market and sell their digital works at speaking events, book signings, meetings with publicists, and other in-person situations. Livrada will manage the design, printing and shipping of the Author Cards. Livrada also supports and manages a seamless multi-platform redemption process, customer service, and will provide analytics to the author. As the world shifts towards digital publishing, this is the most convenient and seamless way for authors to bring e-books to life.

"Livrada is empowering authors like myself to more effectively sell and promote our e-books in the real world, at live events and in other settings," said David Ewing Duncan, award-winning best-selling author including TED Books. "There's a real need for a service like this in our industry."
