CAMBRIDGE, MA, According to SEC filings, Lantos Technologies Inc., a 3-D scanning technology startup focused on custom hearing applications, has raised $4.1 million in a new round of funding.

SEC filings state there were 17 investors in this new round. Previous backers include Catalyst Health Ventures of Braintree, Excel Venture Management and Mass Medical Angels.

Born in the labs of Professor Douglas Hart, MIT's Mechanical Engineering department, a novel 3D scanning technology stands to revolutionize all things custom made for ears.

Lantos Technologies is working to commercialize 3D digital scanner capable of measuring ear canal shape and tissue compliance. This method will eliminate the uncertainties associated with manual fits, greatly improving the performance of custom made ear products.
