JFrog Secures $50M

2016-01-20
SANTA CLARA, CA, JFrog has secured a $50 million investment round.
As all companies in every industry deliver more of their value through software, they are sharing the pain of moving to a modular software architecture in order to deliver software faster. Automating the continuous delivery pipeline is the only proven way to achieve rapid software delivery cycles. The world's most innovative organizations are building their continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines on the JFrog platform, the only way to automate end-to-end software delivery from developers all the way to consumers and devices.
JFrog has secured a $50 million investment round from new investors Scale Venture Partners, Sapphire Ventures, Battery Ventures, Vintage Investment Partners and Qumra Capital, as well as participation from existing investors. The company will use the funds to realize its vision by investing in the talent, technology advancements and global expansion needed to meet the growing demand for its DevOps and software automation platform.
'The software world is tired of domain dictators and demands a universal powerful solution that supports all technologies and software packages,' said Shlomi Ben Haim, co-founder and CEO of JFrog. 'DevOps and developer teams deserve more -- they demand a multi-package, highly available and secured end-to-end solution. JFrog Artifactory and JFrog Bintray are not just a Docker registry, or an npm or Maven repository; it's how the world's biggest organizations choose to host, manage and distribute their software.'
'This $50 million is one of the largest VC investment rounds in the entire DevOps market history,' continued Ben Haim. 'This investment will allow us to keep leading the market and push our products to a new level, with a user journey 10x better than Docker, Amazon or other single technology solutions. We are the binary people; it's either One or Zero. No half-baked solution is good enough for our community and customers. With enough capital secured, we will continue to provide them with class A, enterprise level products and services.'
Atlassian and GitHub have revolutionized how developers manage source code. JFrog is revolutionizing how developers and DevOps team manage binary artifacts. JFrog Artifactory, the only universal Artifact Repository, is an essential component of the Continuous Integration pipeline.
'JFrog is at the epicenter of the merger between dev and ops teams,' said Andy Vitus, partner at Scale Venture Partners. 'JFrog is automating a large number of processes that previously were tedious, prone to introducing bugs in production code and highly insecure. As we spoke to our portfolio companies, we found that a large number of them were adopting JFrog's products. Across the board, from our early stage companies to those preparing to go public, the engineers running operations were citing JFrog Artifactory and JFrog Bintray as core parts of their infrastructure.'
'Release fast or die!' has become the mantra for many organizations as mobile, cloud computing and social media technologies drive transformation in every industry. A primary aspect of software development is managing binary artifacts, the basic building blocks that development teams share in the build process and that include everything from Docker images to Node.js packages to RubyGems, Maven, Python, NuGet and more. Artifact repositories that automate key activities of the end-to-end software delivery process are becoming essential to software development and DevOps teams under pressure to release software faster.
'Enterprises are feeling the pressure to release faster, which is driving a DevOps mindset to iterate more quickly between the business and the customer,' said Donnie Berkholz, research director at 451 Research. 'Versioning every release artifact is a critical piece of this transition, and JFrog is aggressively pursuing this opportunity.'
'Sapphire Ventures is excited to partner with JFrog to help them become the standard for artifact management and delivery in the DevOps community,' said Jai Das, managing director of Sapphire Ventures. 'JFrog Artifactory and JFrog Bintray are the most widely adopted solutions for managing and distributing artifacts in the CI/CD pipeline. In fact, we feel they are really the only solutions that enterprises with large software teams depend on because they are secure, highly available, and support multiple packages and container registries. We look forward to connecting the company with DevOps teams in our vast enterprise network in order to help them continually innovate and accelerate growth.'
Underscoring the market momentum JFrog has achieved since its founding are multiple milestones and awards the company has recently announced and received. Significant wins include:
