HelloFresh closes $7.5M in Series C Funding

BERLIN, GERMANY, HelloFresh, an eCommerce site that delivers fresh ingredients for pre-set recipes to home chefs in five countries, has received $7.5 million in Series C funding led by Phenomen VC.
HelloFresh, a Berlin-based company that helps home chefs by delivering fresh, premeasured ingredients for recipes listed on the company's website, has closed $7.5 million in Series C funding led by Moscow-based Phenomen VC.
HelloFresh delivers food to home chefs in the US, United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Australia. Home chefs can choose a box containing the exact ingredients for three to five recipes, and all the ingredients for those recipes will be delivered direct to the chef's home.
Since its launch in 2012, HelloFresh has grown to shipping several million meals in its core markets. Since receiving a previous funding round, the company has quadrupled its revenue, doubled its margins and also saw significant improvements in a range of other operational metrics, leading to high investor interest.
Vorwerk Ventures and Holtzbrinck Ventures also participated in the round. Other existing investors include Investment AB Kinnevik and Rocket Internet. The total amount of funding for HelloFresh grew to $20 million. HelloFresh was founded by Jessica Nilsson, Thomas Griesel and Dominik Richter, and operates further offices in New York, London, Amsterdam and Sydney. The company employs 100 people.
