G-Form Secures Investment
2012-07-04
PROVIDENCE, RI, Rapidly-growing manufacturer of branded impact protection equipment for action sports and consumer electronics, picked up funding from VO2 Partners.
VO2 Partners, a private investment firm focused on the active & healthy living sector, has closed an investment in G-Form.
G-Form is a rapidly-growing manufacturer of branded impact protection equipment for action sports and consumer electronics. G-Form utilizes a patent-protected Reactive Protection TechnologyTMto create lightweight, flexible materials that instantly stiffen upon impact and absorb over 90% of impact energy. Upon impact, molecules within the RPTTM momentarily "seize up" and absorb energy through a phase change, creating a stiff armor-like exterior at the point of impact.
G-Form's sports impact protection equipment includes elbow pads, knee pads and protective apparel for mountain biking, skateboarding and other action sports. G-Form also has a line of consumer electronics protection products including iPhone cases, "Extreme Sleeve" iPad cases and "Extreme Portfolio" laptop cases, which recently launched into retailers such as Sam's Club, Best Buy and Staples.
G-Form has generated strong consumer interest from highly successful viral marketing campaigns, including a "Space Drop" video featuring an iPad in a G-Form "Extreme Edge" case surviving a drop from an altitude of 100,000 feet, which has generated over 3.5 million YouTube views.
Proceeds from the investment will be used to fund working capital and the introduction of G-Form's products into broader national and global distribution.
VO2 Partners Advisory Board member Matthew Chamlin, the former President of Izod-Lacoste and several other consumer brands, will work closely with the G-Form management team to provide guidance on its brand and marketing strategy; and VO2 Partners Principal Anders Petersen will work with G-Form on enhancing its financial systems and reporting.
According to Dan Wyner, CEO of G-Form, "We have been fortunate to experience tremendous growth at G-Form and have a wealth of additional opportunities to pursue. We are committed to building a world-class company, and the VO2 Partners team brings us the resources and insight to help us realize that goal." "The G-Form team has delivered an extraordinary suite of innovative, disruptive products to the market, and we are excited to partner with them to help them achieve their maximum potential," said Laurence Levi, the CEO of VO2 Partners.
