Extreme Reality Inks Series D Funding of $10M
2013-11-26
HERZLIYA, ISRAEL, Only company to provide 3D human body motion control and analysis software that functions via a standard camera, today announced that it has raised a Series D funding round of $10 million.
Extreme Reality, the only company to provide 3D human body motion control and analysis software that functions via a standard camera, today announced that it has raised a Series D funding round of $10 million split between existing investor Marker LLC and a new strategic investor that is already integrating Extreme Reality's technology into a variety of projects. The funding comes on the heels of the successful integration of Extreme Reality's technology with several developers, including gaming giant SEGA, and as the company prepares for the release of new 'motionized' games and an expansion into new markets, including security/biometrics.
Extreme Reality's Extreme Motion is the only software-based technology that integrates with standard 2D cameras to provide full-body 3D motion analysis. Offered as a software development kit (SDK), it enables developers and integrators to easily add motion analysis into a variety of products, from motion-controlled games and applications to biometrics in security systems.
'Extreme Reality represents the key ingredients we seek for our portfolio investments -- a dynamic management team that has created game-changing technology,' said Yuval Shachar, Chairman of Extreme Reality and a Partner at Marker LLC. 'The company has pioneered the extension of motion analysis, creating a significant new market opportunity for game developers, and the technology is also being integrated into security systems to provide unique analytics of human body motion and anomalous behavior.'
In addition to being integrated into SEGA's first full-body motion controlled iPad and iPhone game, GO DANCE, Extreme Motion also provides the motion technology for several other recently launched games, such as Top Smash Tennis, Beat Booster and Pro Riders Snowboard.
'Since we have recently made our SDK publicly available to developers, we have seen a strong endorsement from gaming and security companies that have integrated or are in the process of integrating Extreme Motion into their products,' said Sarit Firon, CEO of Extreme Reality. 'This new investment will enable us to expand these efforts, as well as targeting new markets.'
