Elemeno Health Closes $1.3M in Seed Round

2017-12-15
OAKLAND, CA, Elemeno Health announced today that it has completed a $1.3 million seed round led by Launchpad Digital Health.
Elemeno Health announced today that it has completed a $1.3 million seed round led by Launchpad Digital Health. The financing will be used to fund Elemeno Health's expansion and further investment in its proprietary cloud solution for frontline healthcare teams. Fred Toney, chief executive officer and co-founder of Launchpad Digital Health, will join Elemeno Health's board of directors.

"Elemeno Health is changing healthcare delivery at the frontline with its SaaS virtual coach for healthcare teams," said Fred Toney. "We are excited to lead this round of financing, and we believe this mobile platform successfully addresses the significant knowledge-practice gap in healthcare today. This proven mobile platform provides nurses, doctors and hospital staff with a simple solution that notably improves quality and patient safety at the point of care."

Elemeno Health's software application is a virtual coach that engages frontline medical professionals and helps them adhere to the consistent delivery of best practices. Accessible from any device, the cloud-solution app enables healthcare teams to easily access best practice guidelines, up-to-date checklists and how-to videos. Complicated best practices are simplified into bite-sized, just-in-time learning, and the social and gamification elements included in the software are designed to motivate team members. The app does not use patient data and meets the strict security standards within HIPAA requirements.

"Medicine today has the ability to save more lives than ever before, however, the endless volume of new processes and procedures is too much for frontline teams to master, resulting in repeated errors, inefficiencies, waste and burnout," said Arup Roy-Burman, MD, chief executive officer and co-founder of Elemeno Health. "With a rapidly expanding knowledge-practice gap challenging healthcare, there is no better way to cut through the noise than with a simple solution that streamlines best practices and care. Our cloud-based virtual coach addresses this significant healthcare challenge and is helping healthcare systems deliver lifesaving results."

About Elemeno Health

Founded in 2016 in Oakland, Calif., Elemeno Health is a digital health start-up backed by leading seed stage digital health investor, Launchpad Digital Health, Silicon Valley tech accelerator, Y Combinator, and leading regulatory tech venture investor, Fenway Summer. Developed in collaboration with UCSF, the company's app engages frontline nurses, doctors and ancillary staff to help them adhere to the consistent delivery of best practices while enhancing teamwork. The Elemeno Health platform is designed as a cloud solution accessible from any device - from desktop to mobile. A one-year study at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco targeted central line care, and Elemeno Health's prototype was deployed in half of the hospital. The results show the app helped to cut central line infections (a costly and deadly hospital acquired infection) in half, saving over $1 million and an estimated three lives. Elemeno Health is a 2016 Medical Entrepreneurship & Disruption (MEDy) award winner, and its app is in use by teams in multiple large academic medical centers, county health systems and provider practices.
