Cybrary, the world's first and only no-cost cybersecurity MOOC (massive open online course) provider, has secured $1.3 million in an oversubscribed series seed financing led by Arthur Ventures and Ron Gula, Founder and Chairman of Tenable Network Security, with participation from existing investors, including Inner Loop Capital.
Since launching in 2015, Cybrary has become the largest cybersecurity community on the Internet with more than 550,000 registered users from around the globe and thousands more joining every day. To date, Cybrary has delivered more than 70 million minutes of cybersecurity training and educational content on 2,000 plus topics - all for free. Cybrary is already one of the highest trafficked websites in the cybersecurity industry and has won numerous awards in the past year including Best Cyber Security Education Provider and Best Technology Start Up.
'Over the past 18 months, we have been focused primarily on growing Cybrary's community of users and building out our content resources and programs,' said Ryan Corey, Co-Founder of Cybrary. 'With this latest financing, we intend to focus on product development to improve the learning experience for Cybrary users and introduce new features that will help drive greater comprehension and adoption of the concepts and training we provide.'
'With the addition of capital and talent, we will accelerate the development of our products and bring to market the tools our members are requesting,' Ralph Sita, Co-founder of Cybrary, added.
By removing financial barriers around cybersecurity training, Cybrary is actively combating the global shortage of talent in the cybersecurity profession as well as helping to advance those with limited means in developing countries. As a result, over the past 18 months since launch, Cybrary has become the world's largest cybersecurity training provider.
'Arthur Ventures believes in the growing value of professional certification training for employers and jobseekers alike. There is a particular need within the cybersecurity market where more than a million jobs are unfilled due to a global talent shortage,' said Ryan Kruizenga, Partner at Arthur Ventures. 'We are excited to co-invest with Ron Gula and others to support Ryan, Ralph and the team at Cybrary as they continue their mission to democratize cybersecurity training and build the definitive cybersecurity knowledge community on the web.'
