Cockroach Labs Snares $20M in Series A-1

NEW YORK, NY, Cockroach Labs has raised $20 million in Series A-1 funding.
According to TC, Cockroach Labs an open-database company, has raised $20 million in Series A1 funding. The capital comes from Index Ventures and earlier investors Benchmark, FirstMark Capital, and GV (formerly Google Ventures).

Cockroach Labs is the company behind CockroachDB, an open source, scalable SQL database headquartered in New York City. CockroachDB is a distributed relational database that is scalable, survivable, and strongly consistent - hence the name. It combines the rich functionality of SQL with the horizontal scalability common to NoSQL offerings, and provides enterprise-grade disaster recovery. The company was founded in 2015 with a mission to Make Data Easy.
