Bastille Networks, the first security company to detect and mitigate threats affecting the Internet of Things (IoT), announced that it has secured $1.5 million in funding from top Atlanta angel investors. The investment will be used to fuel product development and successful implementation of its first pilots.
Founded in April by veteran Internet security executive, Chris Rouland, Bastille Networks is pioneering IoT security with next-generation sensors, allowing corporations to accurately quantify risk and mitigate 21st century airborne threats.
Racing to secure the IoT
By 2020, the world will be home to 50 billion connected devices. With five connected devices per person by 2017, the exponential rise of the IoT poses challenges for today's security professionals who are responsible for the protection of individual devices, information networks and physical environments.
The magnitude of these new airborne threat vectors is beginning to vex industry. As Goldman Sachs reveals in its recent report, IoT is the most explosive and important Internet trend yet. However, the report notes 'security concerns escalate to a whole new level with the IoT.'
'As the IoT proliferates, so do inherent security risks - taking enterprises by surprise. In today's modern threat environment, it's critical for corporations to have complete visibility into airborne threats to protect their airspace,' said Tom Noonan, cyber security veteran and investor in Bastille's angel round. 'Atlanta has long been an information security hub - attracting and growing the world's top security companies. I'm proud to see our city's talent take on the next big industry challenge - securing the IoT.'
'Through our patent-pending solution, corporate security professionals now have greater insight into situational awareness both in and around their cyber environments, as well as in their airspace,' Rouland said. 'We're proud to be the vanguard of IoT security with a comprehensive solution that helps defend data, devices and airspace.'
In October, Bastille will debut its technology during a general session keynote presentation at the FS-ISAC Fall Summit. Bastille is currently in pilot testing and will be generally available in late 2014. Security executives can click here to request information.
