SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Astrid announced its seed funding today from Google Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, and angel investors including Jack Herrick of wikiHow at the annual MobileBeat conference.

Astrid, a popular to-do list / productivity application on the Android platform, has helped 1.5 million users complete over 18 million tasks since July of last year. With upcoming web and iPhone versions, Astrid features easy task sharing for couples and small teams.

Tim Su, Astrid's co-founder and CTO, originally created Astrid for his own personal use to "nag" him about important things to do. "There were no other apps that did what I wanted," he said. Since then, Astrid has landed on many 'Best of Android' lists, delighting power users while remaining simple, free and fun to use.

In early 2011, Su and Jon Paris, Astrid co-founder and CEO, joined the startup accelerator AngelPad, where they were introduced to strategic investors in the venture community. Astrid generated significant interest among these investors, and during the last week of March, was the hottest startup on AngelList, according to AngelList co-founder Naval Ravikant. Since receiving funding, Astrid has rapidly built out its engineering team, expanded to new platforms, and is moving towards its goal to help a billion people become happier, healthier and more productive.
