WATERTOWN, MA, Arsenal Medical, a privately held biotechnology company focused on the development of therapeutic products, has raised $12 million. Ten investors participated in the round.

Arsenal Medical is a privately-held biotechnology company focused on the development of therapeutic products based on its proprietary BioActive Composites platform. Previous investors include Polaris, North Bridge and Intersouth.

Bioactive Composites are combinations of materials that elicit targeted therapeutic effects. Our biomaterials-based systems provide targeted local and systemic therapies to treat chronic diseases and conditions. They offer precise, tailored dosing of drugs, mechanical and biochemical compatibility with tissues, and complete bioabsorption.

Arsenal integrates chemistry, materials engineering, drug delivery, and device engineering with a mechanistic understanding of disease biology. The company is the first entrepreneurial collaboration between pioneering scientists George Whitesides and Bob Langer.
