Armored Things, a company that uses Internet of Things devices and their data to keep large venues safe, announced today that it has completed a $5.5 million institutional seed round of financing. Glasswing Ventures and iNovia Capital led the investment round with participation from additional existing and new investors, including MassVentures, an early stage, Massachusetts-focused venture fund.
This new capital will help the company ramp up product development efforts around the
unique opportunity to design a predictive cyber-physical incident response platform. The
company will also increase sales and marketing efforts in advance of the initial product release slated for early next year.
Glasswing Ventures is a Boston-based venture capital firm dedicated to investing in the next generation of AI startups and frontier technologies that connect consumers and enterprises and secure the ecosystem. Rick Grinnell, Glasswing Ventures Founder and Managing Partner, stated, "Armored Things is a tremendous investment opportunity, with an all-star team of cyber and physical security experts focused on integrating these two worlds. The company's AI-based innovation will provide best-in-class protection for society's most important assets, both digital and physical."
Both Grinnell and Todd Simpson, Partner at iNovia Capital, will join the Board of Directors of Armored Things. "We are excited to co-lead this round of financing for Armored Things and to support the team in their next phase of growth," Simpson said. "Their application of AI in the physical world has the potential to solve critical issues facing communities worldwide, and that's a story we absolutely want to play a part in." iNovia Capital is a leading venture capital firm with over a decade of investment experience in backing high-growth technology startups in Canada and the United States.
"Armored Things is privileged to partner with Rick and Glasswing Ventures plus Todd and iNovia Capital," said Charles Curran, CEO of Armored Things. They are deeply vested and share our mission to keep people safe where they work, live, and play."
