AppSheet Raises $1.5M Seed Round
2015-10-19
SEATTLE, WA, Code-free platform to create and deploy mobile business apps-- today announced that it has secured $1.5 million in Seed funding.
AppSheet (https://www.appsheet.com/) -- a code-free platform to create and deploy mobile business apps-- today announced that it has secured $1.5 million in Seed funding from leading global investment firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA). This latest round, in addition to an Angel round in 2014, brings AppSheet's total funding to $2.1 million.
Time, cost, and complexity have traditionally been roadblocks to building custom mobile apps for business productivity. AppSheet drastically lowers the bar on all three, making it easy to create, customize, and deploy an app. Advanced capabilities for security and integration ensure that customers can build richer apps for enterprise environments as well.
'Anyone who creates a spreadsheet or document can now build and deploy mobile apps,' said AppSheet co-founder and CEO Praveen Seshadri. 'Our customers are true innovators, creating mobile apps themselves to transform their work, their team, their business-- our platform just makes it really easy for them to get it done'.
More than 30,000 users across 150 countries have built apps with AppSheet since its November 2014 launch, proving that mobile app development is no longer restricted to specialized mobile developers or companies with large IT budgets. Business professionals at large organizations like Sprint, non-profits like Habitat for Humanity, and thousands of small businesses have created more than 50,000 apps for sales, marketing, field service, operations, real estate, customer engagement, and more.
'Sprint Business is working with AppSheet to demonstrate the power of Google Apps for Work,' said David Rondeau, a Business Strategist at Sprint. 'It is an amazingly elegant solution.'
With the new funding round, AppSheet will further develop its technology platform, expand its global customer reach, and grow the Seattle-based team to achieve these goals.
'With the ability to create custom mobile applications, users of AppSheet are truly empowered to solve problems and optimize processes specific to their business,' said Greg Papadopoulos, Venture Partner at NEA. 'We are thrilled to partner with the AppSheet team to make mobile app development accessible to anyone.'
