SAN FRANCISCO, CA, AllTrails.com, the leading digital network focused on outdoor enthusiasts, today announced that the company has closed a seed round of funding with participation from 500 Startups, 2020 Ventures, and other individual angel investors.
Since graduating as part of the inaugural class of AngelPad last November, AllTrails has more than tripled the size of its team to help manage the strong growth across its web and mobile platforms.
"We launched AllTrails to help make it easy for outdoor enthusiasts to discover, track, and share all the best destinations near them. We've been overwhelmed with the response and are excited to now be reaching over 1 million outdoor enthusiasts each month," said Russell Cook, Founder & CEO at AllTrails.
Almost a year after launching its website, AllTrails expanded to mobile devices starting with AllTrails for iPhone last December. Since its launch, the app has consistently been ranked among the top outdoors applications and one of the Top 50 free apps in the travel category. Following its success on iPhone, AllTrails is excited to announce the availability of its market-leading mobile application for Android devices.
"The application we are launching today in the Android Marketplace helps fulfill the need we've been hearing from outdoor enthusiasts with Android enabled devices. It allows them full access to our industry-leading database of 45,000 outdoor trails in the US and Canada. Using the app, our users are able to locate and share hiking and outdoor trails around them, search on important criteria such as length, difficulty, and dog-friendliness of trails, and even get driving directions to the trailhead," said Justin Ip, Head of Product at AllTrails.
With these innovative new products and recent growth, partners and investors are excited about the prospects of the company. According to investor and Founding Partner of 500 Startups, Dave McClure:
"We're impressed by their hustle, customer focus, and user acquisition skills. We like their chances!"
