Algolia Receives $1.5M From Index Ventures

PARIS, FRANCE, Algolia, a company that offers search application interfaces to websites and programmers, secured $1.5 million in seed funding from Index Ventures, Point Nine Capital and Alven Capital.
Algolia, a Paris-based SaaS firm that offers an intelligent search interface for mobile and desktop developers, has secured $1.5 million in a seed funding round that included Index Ventures, Point Nine Capital, and Alven Capital.

Algolia's search solutions allow developers to use real-time, typo-tolerant, location-aware search in their applications and websites. Algoria search can be tailored by app/web developers to set search rules, combining relevance with object popularity. Algolia searches are used more than four million times a day.

The company was founded in 2012 by two former technical officers at semantic search company Exalead, which was acquired for 135 million EURO in 2010.
