Professional talent network for college students and recent graduates, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding led by Flywheel Ventures.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, AfterCollege, the largest professional talent network for college students and recent graduates, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding led by Flywheel Ventures. The investment will be used to accelerate product development and marketing of AfterCollege's professional networking tools for entry-level job seekers.
AfterCollege is used by over 3,000,000 college students and recent graduates annually via career networks at 16,000 academic departments and student groups. Colleges and universities leverage AfterCollege's free service to enable networking between their students, alumni and employers, all in a secure platform that maintains student privacy and simplifies the work of university administrators. Students and recent graduates benefit by gaining access to exclusive networks of alumni and employers from their alma mater. At the same time, employers benefit by gaining unparalleled access to top talent found on AfterCollege's career networks before these users begin to actively look for work on traditional job sites or other professional networks.
"AfterCollege has evolved from job listings to a professional networking platform where students and recent grads can connect with employers and with alumni who can help them," said Roberto Angulo, CEO of AfterCollege. "We've been collaborating with schools, employers and students in developing new services that we expect to roll out during the current academic year."
"Finding a job is one of the oldest uses of social networking," stated Trevor Loy, General Partner at Flywheel Ventures. "AfterCollege has helped millions of people find jobs for which they are most qualified. In doing so, AfterCollege has built the USA's largest platform to enable employers to build quality relationships with departments, faculty, and students at the institutions most relevant to their hiring needs. Existing customers rave about the quality, speed, and cost-effectiveness of hiring using the AfterCollege platform. In partnering with the company, our Flywheel Ventures team is excited to help AfterCollege expand its ability to create broader and deeper relationships between employers, educational institutions, and job seekers."
The company launched public profiles earlier in the year and recently passed the 600,000 profile mark. It has also been testing a student and alumni networking service that it expects to roll out to employers in Q1 of 2012.
AfterCollege (http://www.aftercollege.com) is the largest professional talent network for college students and recent graduates, connecting 3,000,000 users with employers each year through career networks at colleges and professional associations. Founded in 1999, AfterCollege powers the largest number of career networks on the internet.
