Adapx Secures $3M

2012-07-30
SEATTLE, WA, Data capture and collaboration company secured $3 million in additional funding to accelerate development of new software solutions and entry into new markets.
Data capture and collaboration company Adapx today announced that it has secured $3 million in additional funding to accelerate development of new software solutions and entry into new markets. Supporting its expansion goals, the company has appointed to its board of directors General Peter W. Chiarelli, recently retired as the U.S. Army's 32nd Vice Chief of Staff and a long-time advocate for wounded warriors and expert in modernizing mission command systems.

All of the existing Adapx venture capital investors -- OVP Venture Partners, Paladin Capital Group, Pelion Ventures, and Northwest Tech Ventures -- participated in the new funding round, which brings total funding to approximately $32 million.

Adapx's Capturx® software is used around the world to automate mobile data capture and logistics in activities ranging from energy field service to delivery of food aid in Africa and health assessments for civilians and soldiers. Capturx automates mobile paperwork by instantly capturing and sending handwritten data on tablets, paper forms, maps or notebooks into leading backend systems, eliminating the costs and delays of paper handling and transcription. Soldiers use Capturx Speech & Sketch™ to quickly enter data into mission command systems by simply speaking and sketching plans on touchscreens, handhelds, and wall displays.

"Rapid change in technology is creating new opportunities for warfighters and civilian teams to improve how they plan, collaborate and track operations in the field," said General Chiarelli. "The data capture and user interface solutions from Adapx will revolutionize systems for mission planning, simulation, logistics and health care -- speeding up operations and digitally capturing critical medical information in combat environments."

Advocate for Technology Innovation
Throughout his career, Chiarelli has been a strong proponent of the modernization of mission command systems and of providing more effective treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress (PTS). Chiarelli currently serves as the CEO of One Mind for Research, a non-profit division of the International Mental Health Research Organization (IMHRO), which supports research to provide better diagnostics and treatments for TBI and PTS through data sharing and team science.

"We are delighted and honored to have General Chiarelli join the Adapx Board of Directors," said Ken Schneider, CEO of Adapx. "His knowledge, insights, and passion will help us ensure that Capturx solutions are optimized to help soldiers, clinicians and logisticians improve operations and outcomes for warfighters and civilians alike."
