Emerging Travel has raised $28 million in its second round of venture capital, according to a new filing by the company on Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. 26 separate investors participated in the offering.
Founded in 2010 in Russia, before relocating its headquarters to the U.S., the company plans to offer low-cost travel packages to destinations such as China, India, Nepal and Morocco. Emerging Travel's co-founders include Kirill Makharinsky, who also co-founded YouNoodle, a San Francisco-based networking website for entrepreneurs and small businesses, as well as Ostrovok.ru, a Moscow-based consumer travel e-commerce company.
