Morta Security, an early-stage start-up based in Palo Alto, CA, has closed its first round of financing. Investors participating include venture firms Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, and Norwest Venture Partners; and notable investors Data Collective, Larry Link, and Peter Wagner.
Morta Security is developing a new paradigm to counter advanced cyber threats. "Sophisticated cyber threats are a significant and growing concern for both commercial and government organizations," said Asheem Chandna of Greylock Partners. "Morta is focused on developing a new category of innovative technology solutions, that can help customers better defend themselves from cyber threats."
The founders of Morta harness deep security experiences gained at the National Security Agency, US Air Force, and FDA to guide their disruptive approach to cyber security. "Our founding team members have each played critical roles in national security and are now applying their talents to help defend enterprises from advanced attackers," says Raj Shah, CEO of Morta Security.
Matt Howard of Norwest Venture Partners elaborated, "Morta's approach to protecting against the advanced attacker offers a new countermeasure to a serious problem affecting many companies."
