SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Munchery announced it has raised $28 million in venture backing.
According to CNN, Munchery announced it has raised $28 million in venture backing, bringing its total funds raised to $32.21 million. The round was led by Sherpa Ventures, with participation from existing investors e.ventures and Menlo Ventures. Munchery also snagged two celebrity backers: Chef Roy Choi, founder of the Kogi BBQ taco truck, and the actor and director Jon Favreau.
Munchery's mission is to bring the personal chef experience to everyone. Eating delicious and healthy food from a professional chef shouldn't be a luxury or dream. Instead, we're reinventing things through an online marketplace where you can purchase meals prepared daily by our chefs and have it delivered for that night. With Munchery, you can trust that your food is prepared by a professional. Munchery chefs are selected via a comprehensive review process, including a mandatory tasting. Munchery was founded in September 2010 by Tri Tran and Conrad Chu. Both mid-30 busy dads with young kids.
