Venture Capital News: ReadySet Receives Investment
2016-08-01
CINCINNATI, OH, Queen City Angels today announced the completion of an investment in ReadySet Surgical.
Queen City Angels today announced the completion of an investment in ReadySet Surgical, developers of a cloud-based software that consolidates and displays all the communication, confirmation and delivery logistics needed for surgical instruments. ReadySet ensures that every patient has exactly what they need before they go into surgery. The company plans to use the QCA investment to scale the company to meet the growing demand for its technology, including adding people to help sell, refine and implement the software.
Inspiration for ReadySet's technology came from personal experiences of company founder and CEO Keerthi Kanubaddi. Prior to founding ReadySet, Kanubaddi worked in medical sales, where he frequently witnessed coordination and delivery problems for surgical instruments.
'Medical devices and surgery implants are often borrowed from medical device companies because they are expensive,' said Kanubaddi. 'Surgical instrument trays, which include hundreds of complex instruments and implants, need to go through a rigorous sterilization process before they can be used. Current coordination of the instruments' ordering and delivery happens via email and text messages, which creates a number of opportunities for errors. If the instruments are delivered on-time, patients have to wait, surgeries are cancelled or doctors have to change their surgical approaches.'
'Keerthi has identified a real problem in the healthcare industry, and has created a solution that saves time and money for the hospitals, and increases the likelihood of more positive outcomes for patients,' said Tony Shipley, chairman and co-founder of QCA. 'We are impressed with Keerthi's drive to build a successful business, which comes from a sincere desire to influence positive, life-saving change. We look forward to helping ReadySet achieve its goals.'
Kanubaddi added, 'Queen City Angels does what it says it will do. What impressed me all along is their willingness to stay in touch and work with me through my questions. Coming from a sales background, I didn't have the CEO-level experience to operate a business, so the angels have been critical in guiding me in the development of ReadySet. They angels have lots of connections, and they have gone out of their way to connect us with high-level hospitals. QCA has been everything I could ask for in an investor. They are active and understand what I am trying to do as an entrepreneur.'
