Venture Capital News: 128 Technology Raises $21.5M in Series C
2017-06-01
BURLINGTON, MA, Leader in session-oriented routing, today announced it has raised $21.5 million in Series C funding.
128 Technology, a leader in session-oriented routing, today announced it has raised $21.5 million in Series C funding, bringing the total capital raised to $57 million. Investors in the round include executive management and current employees of 128 Technology, individual investors, as well as G20 Ventures.
128 Technology will use the financing to grow its global presence and accelerate the expansion of the 128T Networking Platform (128T) as organizations of all sizes transform their networks with session-oriented routing.
"The only reason we have networks is to deliver applications and services. Today's networks weren't created with that in mind, and certainly weren't designed to address the demands of cloud computing, mobile devices, or the near-infinite number of applications created each day," said Andy Ory, co-founder and CEO of 128 Technology. "Tomorrow's networks must be built around sessions, the language of applications and services. 128 Technology has created the world's first session-oriented router that delivers on the promise of a service-centric network that is simpler, more agile, more secure, and more cost effective."
128T represents a fundamentally new approach to networking - one that addresses a broad spectrum of routing applications from the branch office, across the wide area network (WAN), and within and between private and public clouds. 128 Technology's innovation is known as Secure Vector Routing and it enables enterprises and service providers to build networks that are session-based, service-centric, and software-defined.
Secure Vector Routing allows 128 Technology customers like Revation Systems, a leader in cloud-based compliant communications and NEC Networks Japan, Inc., a leader in the integration of IT and network technologies, to build context-aware networks that provide greater agility, security, and control across network boundaries, and at a much lower cost. The 128T Networking Platform can be deployed to either augment or replace existing network routing solutions, streamline adoption and speed time to value.
"The 128 Technology team is about to transform the Internet by replacing last century's router technologies with session-smart routing that is purpose-built for the demands we place on our networks today," said Bob Hower, co-founder and partner at G20 Ventures. "We see tremendous market opportunity for 128 Technology across the spectrum of networking use cases and are thrilled at the opportunity to invest in its next phase of growth."
Founded in 2014 and launched in 2016, 128 Technology has grown to more than 100 employees and has operations throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The company also has 20 patents granted or pending. To learn more about 128 Technology and its mission, watch this video.
