Niantic, developer of a planet-scale AR platform, announced that Coatue has made a $300 million investment in the company at a valuation of $9 billion.

Niantic is a leading AR technology company. Originally formed at Google in 2011, Niantic became an independent company in 2015 with a group of investors including Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and Alsop Louie Partners. Current titles include pioneering global-control game Ingress, record-breaking AR game Pokemon GO, and recently released third title, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
