Venture Capital News: OhMyGov Receives Investment
2012-06-11
ALEXANDRIA, VA, The Center for Innovative Technology announced a second round of investment to OhMyGov.
The Center for Innovative Technology announced today a second round of investment to OhMyGov Inc., a technology firm based in Alexandria, Va., that provides software to help government agencies, associations, elected officials and political organizations monitor public dialogue and measure the influence of their strategic marketing and communications strategies. With this investment round, CIT's total investment is $150,000.
OhMyGov's software tracks and converts social media commentary into real-time business intelligence. By indexing entire sectors of the government, OhMyGov enables Congressional offices, federal agencies, political campaigns and lobbyists to better understand the impact of their strategic messaging and to evaluate how they compare to thousands of peers, agency components and competitors. Government contracting firms use the tool for lead generation; trade associations and lobbying shops benefit by obtaining a clearer picture of the legislative environment; and media companies, like CNN, have incorporated OhMyGov's political analyses into their political news coverage.
"In today's fast-paced world, communicators, lobbyists and corporations have a daily need to evaluate public sentiment and the impact of their marketing and communication efforts. OhMyGov monitors how messaging impacts both public and government dialogue, citizen response and the key influencers responsible for spreading information - or misinformation," said Andrew Einhorn, OhMyGov CEO. "This latest investment enables us to continue creating an open-source intelligence analysis platform geared exclusively towards the public sector and those wishing to gain insight into what's trending in the public sector."

Tom Weithman, CIT Vice President and GAP Funds Managing Director, said, "In OhMyGov, we see an emerging company with high growth potential and a smart, focused and passionate team led by Andrew Einhorn. We helped them find scarce seed capital, which then generated more private equity investments that further their growth."
Since its 2005 launch, CIT GAP Funds has placed over 70 investments across the Commonwealth, deploying greater than $6 million of public funds and attracting over $80 million more in private funding. (For a list of portfolio companies, please visit the GAP Funds website.)
