CAMBRIDGE, MA, Developer of treatments for diabetic foot ulcers, has raised $2.5 million in a round of venture capital.
Podimetrics, a developer of treatments for diabetic foot ulcers, has raised $2.5 million in a round of venture capital, according to a new filing by the company with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Four separate investors participated in the offering.
Podimetrics is a system for keeping diabetic feet healthy. Of the 26 million diabetics in the U.S., more than a million will develop foot ulcers each year due to reduced feeling from peripheral neuropathy. Many of these patients will acquire intractable infections and 92,000 will ultimately require amputations. Aside from the terrible human price, ulcer treatment and foot amputation cost the U.S. healthcare system $71 billion annually.
