The new funding will be used to develop new technologies aimed at rethinking the way we interact with our mobile devices.

At Mobile World Congress Americas on September 12, 2017, Nanoport showcased two new mobile technologies developed at its Silicon Valley Labs, an integrated universal magnetic connector used for seamlessly joining and cooperating mobile devices, and the TacHammer, a new type of haptic actuator based on a magnetically balanced impact mechanism.

"Today, mobile is still largely a one to one solitary experience. Mobile evolved from the PC era, but we think, moving forward, it's going to be much more collaborative," said Tim Szeto, CEO Founder of Nanoport Technology Inc. "We're developing new technology that lets smartphones seamlessly work with all the other devices and technology around you, expanding the mobile experience beyond the single device interactions that we're familiar with today."

Nanoport attracted early investment from Horizons Ventures, renowned for investing in disruptive technologies. Canadian investors, BrightSpark Ventures, Kensington Capital Partners and Nano Magnetics were also investors in the round. The funding will used to expand research and development facilities and accelerate commercial partnerships.

The company will double in size after moving this week to a new 12,000 square foot space in Santa Clara. The state-of-the-art facilities will be home to an electronics prototyping lab, a software development lab, a mechanical prototyping lab, and dedicated user testing lab.

The connector and haptics components are just two of the new mobile technologies developed by the company. Nanoport is working on a number of new technology announcements to be released in the coming months.
