BookClub raises $20 million in Series A funding to build on the company's mission of unlocking the power of books through life-changing conversations. Signal Peak Ventures led the round, with participation from GSV Ventures, Maveron, Backstage Capital and Pelion Venture Partners. Aaron Rasmussen, co-founder of MasterClass and founder of Outlier.org, and Otis Chandler, co-founder and previous CEO of Goodreads, also joined the round as private investors.
BookClub, the author-led virtual book club platform, is designed to connect readers with authors and authors with fans. BookClub's mission is to create life-changing conversations by bringing author-led and celebrity-moderated video and audiobook clubs to readers around the world. Authors can join personal book groups, lead virtual discussions and share exclusive interviews to help bring their words to life for readers who want to dive deeper, engage in conversation, and learn more from the ultimate authority, the authors themselves. The platform is also a community for readers. BookClub helps readers facilitate conversations and connections not just with their favorite author, but with their friends and fellow book lovers. Established in 2020 by the co-founders of Degreed, BookClub is a space for people who love to write books and those that love to read them.
