2016-10-26
NEW YORK, NY, Creators of a suite of enterprise products to help building and design professionals visualize, create, and share 3D models using Virtual Reality, today announced $8M in Series A.
IrisVR, creators of a suite of enterprise products to help building and design professionals visualize, create, and share 3D models using Virtual Reality, today announced $8 million in Series A funding ahead of the company's Q4 product launch, brining the cumulative total raised to $10 million. The Series A round was led by Emergence Capital and venture firms participating in the raise included Indicator Ventures, Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Valar Ventures, Azure Capital Partners, Locke Mountain Ventures, and Morningside Group. In conjunction with the financing, Kevin Spain, General Partner at Emergence Capital, has joined IrisVR's board of directors.
A first of its kind software, IrisVR's first product became available in Beta earlier this year. Almost at once, 45 of the top 100 design and architecture firms downloaded the tool-a stunning endorsement of IrisVR's breakthrough solution. Demonstrating their global appeal, IrisVR has downloads in 108 countries around the world. Unlike anything currently in the space, IrisVR technology enables building and design professionals to import their own existing plans and blueprints, and with only a few clicks, promptly enter a virtual rendering of their vision using a headset like the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, GearVR, or Cardboard.
'To date, VR has had the stigma of being some sort of gimmick, bordering on science fiction,' said Shane Scranton, Founder and CEO, IrisVR. 'Those perceptions are about to be shattered. There are real, industry Â-changing applications for this technology and IrisVR is building one of them. Simply put, we're reinventing the canvas on which a vast, global industry communicates. For design and construction professionals, the vision is the core of every project. IrisVR brings that vision to life.'
'Emergence has a long history of identifying and investing in nextÂ-generation enterprise markets. Virtual reality is a technology with a lot of promise in business - and is poised to be a gameÂ-changing platform for architects, engineers, and construction professionals.' said Kevin Spain, General Partner, Emergence Capital, 'We believe IrisVR's approach to making virtual reality easy to adopt will propel it to becoming a mustÂ-have design and collaboration solution in these industries.'
IrisVR intends to use its funding to accelerate the company's growth, with a particular focus on the recruitment of new talent. The New YorkÂ-based company is currently seeking visionary creators and engineers who look forward to the merging of the digital and physical 3D worlds, love data driven design, and want to put groundbreaking technology to use in an industry that constructs the built environment.
