Venture Capital News: Pushbullet Lands $1.5M Seed Round

2015-01-28
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Fastest way to move notifications, links, and files between your devices, announced today that it has raised a $1.5 million seed round of financing.
Pushbullet, the fastest way to move notifications, links, and files between your devices, announced today that it has raised a $1.5 million seed round of financing from General Catalyst, SV Angel, Alexis Ohanian, Garry Tan, Paul Buchheit, and other angel investors.

The company will use the capital to accelerate its growth, expand support for additional platforms, and grow its team to recreate the way devices work together to offer users a better experience.

Pushbullet also announced that is has released apps for iOS, Mac, and Safari to bring the product's unique functionality to the Apple ecosystem.

Already installed over one million times on Android alone, the company sees its expansion for the Apple platforms as a critical milestone for continuing to accelerate its growth.

'Every day, Pushbullet is already distributing tens of millions of notifications on its network and transferring 400,000 links, files, or text snippets between devices. Having this traction on Android makes me extremely bullish on the growth opportunity represented by the Apple ecosystem,' said Ryan Oldenburg, cofounder and CEO of Pushbullet.

Since launching in 2013, Pushbullet has differentiated itself by bringing novel cross-platform functionality to mainstream technology users. It's extremely common for people today to carry a smartphone at all times and still spend large amounts of time working at a computer. Without Pushbullet, these devices don't know about each other and hence they don't work together. Pushbullet acts as a connection between devices and computers, providing a seamless experience for the user by enabling them see and dismiss their incoming notifications on their Personal Computer, send text messages from their PC, and easily move data such as links and files between all of their devices.

'All of us owning more than two devices, like a smartphone, laptop etc. can immensely benefit from using Pushbullet to share and consume items and content across devices and with friends,' said Niko Bonatsos, Principal at General Catalyst. 'With PushBullet all devices are truly connected, offering users a seamless, uninterrupted mobile workflow. And with the ever increasing fragmentation in platforms like Windows, Android, iOS, desktop, as well as the proliferation of mobile, tablets, and wearables, Pushbullet's value proposition has the potential to become a mainstream consumer utility.'
