Viyet Inc., the leading e-commerce destination for curated pre-owned furniture, lighting, and accessories from top design professionals and design insiders, announced it has raised $1.5 million in seed funding.
Venture capital firms F Cubed and Metamorphic Ventures participated in the round, as well as a group of angel investors and senior leaders in retail and technology. Viyet plans to expand its consignment services to additional cities, improve tools for designers, and make key hires and investments in operations, marketing, and technology.
'There are very few ways to easily sell and buy high-end designer furniture and accessories online. Our goal is to build an elevated design community and a trusted marketplace where the design savvy and design professionals meet. Designers now have a platform to showcase their portfolio while gaining quick access to high quality items and selling their own inventory. Those that love design can buy fabulous pieces at prices 40-80% below retail prices and be inspired by our featured designers.' explains Viyet CEO Elizabeth Brown.
Founded by Anu Duggal, F Cubed (Female Founders Fund) is an early-stage fund, investing in companies founded by best-in-class female entrepreneurs and helping these founders build enduring companies.
'We are excited to add Viyet to the F Cubed portfolio,' said Duggal. 'Elizabeth is exactly the type of entrepreneur we look to back - her strong track record in the start-up world combined with her impressive team, passion and drive in creating a marketplace solution for the luxury second-hand furniture market.'
Metamorphic Ventures is a New York City-based venture capital firm that invests in start-up and early stage technology companies. The firm is focused on investing in great entrepreneurs building game-changing companies in massive markets, whether that be in categories like marketplaces, e-commerce, payments, web services, the Internet of Things, virtual reality, or even new categories that haven't been discovered yet.
Design leadership, extraordinary customer service, and technological innovation define how Viyet is transforming how to buy and sell consigned designer furniture online. Louise Youngson-Klasfeld, co-founder and Chief Curator adds, 'Viyet's success is ultimately about the amazing product we consign, which is enabled by our white glove curation process and our relationships with designers and high net worth individuals who live in the flow of quality pieces that will retain their value for many years and owners to come.' New capital will be used to expand the site's merchandise selection, designer client base, and web and mobile tool offerings to make buying and selling with Viyet even more seamless.
