According to published reports, restaurant payments app Cover has raised a $5.5 million Series A round of financing led by Spark Capital. Additional investors include O™Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, Lerer Ventures. Angels in the round include Josh Spear, Dave Eisenberg, Ben Leventhal, Naval Ravikant, Andrew Kortina, James Altucher, Mike Greenfield, John McDonald, Chris Muscarella, Ed Zimmerman and Scott Belsky.

Cover is a restaurant payments app that allows users to pay at restaurants without waiting for the check and split the bill effortlessly. Cover is free and can be used at many of the best restaurants in New York City. Just join a table in the app and tell your server that you're 'paying with Cover.' Cover will leave the tip you choose so that you can go when you're ready, without checking out. Dining with friends? Cover will automatically split the bill.
