Handybook, a start-up that provides quick and reliable household service provider booking, today announced that prominent New York tech investor David Tisch has participated in Handybook's more than $2 million seed round of funding. Having worked with over 50 startups-including GroupMe, Fab.com, Art.sy and Behance- Tisch finds entrepreneurs with potential and seeks to genuinely move their companies forward.
Handybook's confirmed $2Mil+ seed funding, from venture capitalists and angel investors including Highland Capital Partners, General Catalyst and David Tisch , will be used to support the company's growth, increase staffing and deliver continued platform enhancements designed to meet the explosive demand for reliable handymen and service providers. By negotiating a price and presenting service providers' availability directly on its website, Handybook eliminates the challenge of searching for and booking a household service provider-a concept that has latched on quickly in Boston and New York City markets.
"Right out of the gate, Handybook offered time and satisfaction guarantees, fixed pricing and ultimately an instant booking experience for customers, which seemed to put us in pretty high demand from the get-go," said Oisin Hanrahan , CEO and Co-founder of Handybook. "Working with David Tisch , who has excellent insight and a deep connection with the New York tech community, will continue to spur our growth as we penetrate the highly populous NYC market."
In his current position as a Managing Partner at BoxGroup, a seed stage investment fund that invests in talented entrepreneurs building disruptive technology companies, Tisch actively invests in startups specifically connected to or based in the New York Metro Region. Tisch is the Co-Founder of TechStars' NYC, a leading seed stage accelerator backed by 75 investors nationwide. Tisch was drawn to Handybook's quick presence and growth in the New York City market.
