REDWOOD CITY, CA, Company making products for a more productive workday, today announced a partnership with, and investment from, Nikkei.
Evernote, the company making products for a more productive workday, today announced a partnership with Nikkei, Inc. that expands Evernote's new Context feature with editorial content from Japan's best-in-class business news organization. The integration with Nikkei, expected to launch in early 2015, works within Evernote's Context to display relevant articles in real time to help create a digital workspace that informs and supports users as they accomplish their best work.
The content integration announcement comes with a companion announcement of a capital investment by Nikkei, Inc. in Evernote of $20 million.
'We are honored to be entering a new business alliance with Nikkei, a company that is respected throughout the world for its top-class editorial,' said Evernote CEO Phil Libin. 'This multifaceted partnership gives us an opportunity to pair that important and timely content with Evernote's workspace-enhanced features for a direct and positive impact on the way people work and share knowledge every day.'
'We believe Nikkei and Evernote share similar missions-to enable knowledge workers to enhance their productivity,' said Nikkei CEO Tsuneo Kita. 'This new partnership is going to be much more than just providing business news through Evernote. We are excited to join forces, and together develop completely new services that will lead to fundamental changes in the way people work.'
Developed by Evernote's Augmented Intelligence team and introduced to the service last month, Context uses advanced algorithms to actively display relevant content based on what a person is working on at the moment. That content can include notes from already completed work, recent related articles from sources like Nikkei, and profiles of people who might be germane to the topic.
Context is available to all Evernote Premium and Evernote Business subscribers. Launched initially in October with English language support for Evernote for Mac and iOS, the integration with Nikkei coincides with the introduction of full Japanese language support for Context on those platforms. Android and Windows support are expected to follow.
