BROOKLYN, NY, FlyCleaners has raised $2 million in seed funding to expand its on-demand laundry service.
A service that picks up, cleans, and returns laundry on demand has received seed funding to expand beyond its Brooklyn beginnings.
FlyCleaners received a $2 million seed investment from Zelkova Ventures and anonymous angel investors, according to published reports. The service works through smartphone apps, and offers wash-and-fold services, dry cleaning, and more elaborate cleaning and repair services. FlyCleaners works as a courier service only; it employs dry cleaners and laundromats for actual cleaning work, and provides only the pickup/delivery and customer service.
FlyCleaners offers free pickup and delivery, and claims that technological advantages and not having a physical storefront help to keep its costs competitive. It works with Android and iPhone operating systems.
