According to TheNextWeb, the new video streaming platform, launched by YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, could be the next big thing for foodies who just have to capture that perfectly-prepared quinoa risotto with arugula and Parmesan.

The platform allows food aficionados and chefs of all calibers to post food videos or even host their own cooking shows. Nom is designed to be live and interactive -- the platform allows hosts to communicate directly with their audiences through a no-delay two-way video chat, according to a press release. And it offers a tool that allows hosts to use multiple cameras for a broadcast.

The platform is scheduled to be demoed next week at the South by Southwest film, media and music festival in Austin, Texas.

'Nom is a place for food lovers,' Chen wrote in the release. 'If you've ever snapped a picture of your dinner, Nom is for you. If you have a food blog and want to connect with a bigger audience, Nom is for you. If a restaurant kitchen is your office, Nom is for you.'

So far, upcoming videos schedule to stream on the platform include 'DIY chocolate bars,' 'Healthy mac and cheese,' and 'Yummertime pizza party.'

'Collaboration is key for us at Nom,' wrote Vijay Karunamurthy, co-founder and CEO, and former head of YouTube's engineering team. 'We worked with an incredible group of chefs, makers, and creators to build the site and app they would want to reach an audience live. Now any creative team can produce their own show. We're seeing people use Nom for coffee tastings, cooking demos, and live coverage of pop-up experiences.'

Known names who will produce shows on Nom include three-star Michelin chef Corey Lee and master sommelier Yoon Ha of Benu in San Francisco, pastry chef Joanne Chang, Tim Hollingsworth of Otium inLos Angeles, Hubert Keller in Las Vegas, and Michael Tusk of Quince in San Francisco, according to the release.

Nom received $4.7 million in Series A funding, with contributions from Blue Run Ventures, WI Harper Group, Khosla Ventures and SV Angel, according to the release. South Korean K-pop star PSY, of 'Gangam Style' fame, is also an investor, as are actor Jared Leto of the 'Dallas Buyers Club,' three-star Michelin chef Corey Lee, and celebrity chef Ming Tsai.
