Venture Capital News: Atlas Powered Raises $700K Angel Round
2013-01-22
LOS ANGELES, CA, Atlas Powered, LLC. today announced the close of their $700 thousand preliminary funding round.
Atlas Powered, LLC. today announced the close of their $700 thousand preliminary funding round. The funding round began on August 1 and included investments by the Tech Coast Angel group, Maverick Angels, Pasadena Angels and others. This financing will help accelerate the development and commercialization of the Atlas app for iOS and Android.
One of the app's most groundbreaking features is appointment scheduling, which disrupts the current system by allowing calendars to talk to each other directly across different platforms -- no more need for email negotiation or attachments. Atlas makes scheduling anything with anyone across any calendar platform easy, simple and fast, promising to make life significantly easier for people who make appointments daily and to change the way people will arrange appointments forever.
"At Tech Coast Angels, we saw the real need for a product like Atlas because scheduling has become a problem that many people struggle with everyday," said SoCal super-angel Yuri Pikover of Tech Coast Angels. "The idea is big and the team is right. We are very pleased to be a part of this initial investment round." Pikover, who lead the Tech Coast deal, serves on Atlas' Board of Directors and works closely with the founders, CEO Hunter Gray and President Michel Bayan.
"We knew that Yuri looks at over a hundred deals each year and only invests in a couple. If you're lucky enough to catch his attention, his diligence process is long and very involved," Gray notes of Pikover. "We are honored to have Yuri not only as an investor but also as our mentor through this journey."
Designed to alleviate stresses that small businesses and independent professionals face each day, Atlas unifies all existing calendar, task and contact data and allows for simple collaboration across platforms to schedule or assign anything in one simple user interface. The mobile platform features a powerful action center and a simple communication hub. In this round, Atlas also received support from other notable investors, including: Angel Capital Entrepreneur Fund; Mark Suster's LaunchpadLA, the #5 Accelerator in the Nation; and Clark Landry, Founder of Shift (FKA "Graph Effect").
